The focal point is a large stepped diamond cross motif in red and ivory tones, edged with dark blue and small floral-like elements.

Within the cross are diamond shapes, often symbolizing protection and harmony.

The field surrounding the central motif is filled with repeated small motifs, such as stylized flowers or stars, arranged symmetrically.

Color blocks of deep navy blue contrast beautifully with warm red and cream, adding visual rhythm.

Multiple bands of intricate borders frame the rug. Each band has its own repeating pattern, such as X-shapes, diamonds, and zigzags — all traditional Berber symbols often linked to fertility, nature, and warding off evil.

Colors include ochre, red, indigo, cream, brown and hints of orange — creating a warm, earthy palette typical of Taznakht weaves.

The rug has a bold, structured composition with tribal flair.

Region: Taznakht is a small town situated in the southern part of the High Atlas Mountains, near the city of Ouarzazate in Morocco.

Taznakht rugs are woven by Berber (or Amazigh) people, particularly the women of the region. These tribes have a long history of rug-making, with traditions passed down through generations.

Cultural Significance: Historically, these rugs were used as a functional item, like blankets, floor coverings, and bedspreads, in Berber homes. Over time, they have become more recognized for their artistic value.

Taznakht rugs are a beautiful representation of the rich cultural heritage of Morocco's Berber people. With their geometric designs, vibrant colors, and high-quality craftsmanship, these rugs are a symbol of tradition, artistry, and cultural pride. Whether used as a functional floor covering or a statement piece in modern interiors, Taznakht rugs offer a timeless connection to the past while remaining relevant in today’s design world.
